Lost Lake Epic (July 21)- Galbraith Mountain - Big Rock Park Trip -

Pre-ride checkup. Note the new shifters/brake levers.. sweet! After about 5 miles of pavement riding dodging cars I was finally on the interurban trail which would take me to the Chuckanut mountains. At the base of the Chuckanut ridge, straight ahead marks the beginning of a singletrack trail which winds up through the mountain.
Small streams and bridges dot the landscape. After making it through the first mountain the trail runs along the coast offering nice views of tall trees and green islands. The interurban trail continues, bathed in a sea of green.
After a good 12 miles of riding I made it to the Larrabee State Park parking lot. I found this car interesting, I think its hippy owners covered it in stickers to feel better about using oil. After 5 miles of steep climbing up another mountain through various roads and trails I came to this sign with an old dictionary opened to the definition of the lake. On the descent to Lost Lake I saw this huge boulder leaning against a tree. How did that happen? I have no idea.
Finally, Lost Lake. Before coming here I really didn't know how remote it really was. Half the lake was covered in downed trees offering nice places to sit. After riding for 18 miles it was nice to sit down right above the translucent waters and relax. The other half of the lake had no downed trees. Considering the cover that the big trees offer, its no wonder this lake garnered the name "Lost".
The trails around the lake were covered in a nice thick, soft moss. Under the canopy of the trees right next to the lake.
